Why September is the Perfect Time to Visit St. Lucia

September is considered a low season in St. Lucia, making it an ideal time to explore the country with greater flexibility. Travellers benefit from increased hotel availability, more personalised experiences and easier access to tours, allowing for a slower and more immersive way to travel. Experiencing St. Lucia during this month may also mean attending matches from the CPL tournament played live at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium.

Sunset Cruise in St. Lucia

Few experiences compare to watching the sun dip below the Caribbean horizon from the deck of a catamaran. A St. Lucia sunset cruise offers the perfect opportunity to soak in the island’s vibrant colours while enjoying the refreshing sea breeze.

Before setting sail, we received permission from our fellow guests to capture some of their memorable moments on board. From delicious hors d’oeuvres and premium bar service to lively music provided by the onboard DJ, the atmosphere quickly transformed into a celebration. Before long, even our team was showing off a few local dance moves while enjoying one of the island’s most popular evening excursions.

Dune Buggy Adventure Through Cap Estate

For travellers seeking excitement, a dune buggy tour in St. Lucia delivers the perfect blend of adrenaline and breathtaking scenery.

Our two-hour guided adventure began in Cap Estate, often referred to as the “Beverly Hills of St. Lucia,” before heading toward the dramatic cliffs of Point Hardy, where sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean create an unforgettable backdrop. The cool ocean breeze alone was worth the journey.

From there, we continued to Cas en Bas, another spectacular viewpoint known for its rugged beauty and coastal views. The route then carried us along scenic back roads, passing near the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium and through the charming community of Monchy before ascending Morne Citron for even more stunning views.

As we wound down country roads, we reminisced through glimpses of everyday island life and returned to base with lasting memories of an exhilarating off-road experience.

Exploring Pigeon Island National Landmark

No visit to northern St. Lucia is complete without a trip to Pigeon Island National Landmark, one of the island’s most historic and scenic attractions.

We tackled the hike to Fort Rodney and Signal Peak, which we found to be a manageable, mild to moderate climb. Equipped with a drone, we were able to capture incredible aerial footage showcasing the peninsula’s dramatic coastline and surrounding waters.

Although several members of our team had visited before, we were reminded why Pigeon Island remains such a beloved destination. The views were every bit as breathtaking as we remembered. The quieter beach on this side of the island provided the perfect place to relax after the hike, making it an excellent addition to any St. Lucian itinerary.

Guided Shopping Tour in Castries

For those who prefer a slower-paced activity, a shopping tour in Castries offers a fantastic way to experience the capital city’s culture and local craftsmanship.

Our guided excursion included visits to some of Castries’ most popular retail locations, including Duty Free Pointe Seraphine, Howelton Estate, and our personal favourite, the vibrant Castries Craft Market.

The market was filled with locally made souvenirs, handcrafted art, jewelry, fragrances, rum, and authentic St. Lucian products. We even found our favourite local hot sauce and enjoyed the sight of seasonal produce, including freshly harvested avocados.

The tour concluded with a scenic photo stop overlooking the picturesque Castries Harbour, providing the perfect ending to a leisurely day in the city. This experience is ideal for visitors who want to explore St. Lucia at their own pace while connecting with the island’s culture and local community.
